Aquaponics is an innovative farming method that combines fish farming (aquaculture) with soilless plant cultivation (hydroponics). Disease spread: If water is not properly disinfected before returning to fish tanks, pathogens can spread quickly, affecting both fish and plants.

Ozone Generators in Aquaponic Systems

1. How It Works

Ozone (O₃) breaks down into oxygen radicals that oxidize organic waste, neutralize viruses, and remove odors from water.

After treatment, any leftover ozone is removed using activated carbon or aeration. This prevents harm to fish and plants.

2. Where It Is Used

High-density fish farming: Helps break down antibiotics and drug residues in water.

Aquaponic water cleaning: Reduces pesticide or medication residues, keeping vegetables safe.

Biofilm prevention: Stops slimy bacterial growth inside pipes, avoiding clogs.

3. Choosing the Right Equipment

Ozone level: Use 0.1–0.3 mg/L in fish-plant systems. Monitor with an ORP sensor.

Mixing method: A venturi injector or mixing pump helps dissolve ozone fully into water.

Safety: Equipment should include an ozone leak detector. Ozone levels in working areas must stay below 0.1 ppm.
